We are delighted to announce that, following a rigorous recruitment process over the past term, Matthew Foster has been appointed as the new Head of City Junior School, starting September 2025.

Mr Foster is currently Deputy Head at Bute House Preparatory School in Hammersmith where he is responsible for school and curriculum development and has designed and delivered an ambitious and exciting academic programme. He brings great enthusiasm for junior school education and a wealth of expertise, knowledge and ideas acquired in both the UK and California. His vision for education closely aligns with the CJS ethos of scholarly learning, fun and careful nurturing of the individual pupil.

Mr Foster read History and English at Durham University and completed his PGCE and an MA in Educational Leadership at UCL. He joined the Teach First Leadership Development Programme after spending six months as an au pair in France.

We are delighted that Mr Foster will be joining CJS in September to lead the school into the next stage of its foundation.
