Adam Kay and Henry Paker visit CJS

On 4th June, CJS pupils were very lucky to have Adam Kay and Henry Paker visit to talk about their work and respective careers.

Adam Kay is a doctor who rose to fame through his reveal-all write-up in 2020, 'This is going to hurt', disclosing the inside realities of life working for the NHS.

Since then, he has written several children's books, 'Kay's anatomy' and 'Kay's marvellous medecine', which travel through an often gruesome chronology of medieval, ancient, and other histories of medical practices. Put it this way, we're all better off for being alive in the 21st Century of medicine.

Henry Paker is a prolific British comedy and TV writer, from Mock the Week, Comic Relief, Top Gear and Would I Lie to You. Paker illustrated Kay's children's book with suitably vivid and gory drawings.

While Adam Kay discussed his life and career, and how he transitioned from a medical career to a full-time writer and speaker. The pair then moved onto a live drawing session, an interactive session, where Paker would draw live based on Kay's speaking, also taking suggestions and ideas from the children, who came up with some suitable weird and wacky ideas.
