Best-selling author GT Karber visits CJS

On the 19th May 2025, CJS pupils were treated to a talk by the best-selling author GT Karber.
Karber rose to success with his book and website, Murdle, the latter which published daily mystery games modelled on logic grid puzzles. The book later followed with an amalgamation of these quizzes. At Christmas 2023, Murdle was the bestselling book in the U.K!
Karber has followed the success of Murdle with a childrens' edition titled Murdle junior: curious crimes for curious minds.
CJS enjoyed our very own talk by GT Karber, who talked pupils through his book-writing process, followed by asking pupils to decipher a live mystery puzzle entitled "Who stole the jewels?", featuring some famous faces, Mr Conard, Mrs Somers and Mrs Watson.
It was a hugely inspirational talk which we hope has only incited a greater appetite for reading amongst pupils and allowed them to engage with a 'real-life' writer.

Gray’s Inn Singers have been crowned UK champions at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition as well as winning at The Watford Festival 2026
The Gray’s Inn Singers from City Junior School have also won the Grand Prize for Musical Excellence at the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition. The choir performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Tuesday 3 March, having been selected as one of 16 outstanding finalists in the Junior Choir category. Their programme featured a captivating performance of Sakura, a traditional Japanese song arranged by Michael Neaum, followed by Larysa Kuzmenko’s dramatic and evocative Winds, which portrays the gathering intensity of a storm. This achievement is a testament to the children’s hard work, dedication, and passion for singing, and we are incredibly proud of them.…
