CJS Sporting Stars
All news
It has been another hugely successful two weeks of sport for CJS, with pupils producing excellent performances across swimming, football and cricket.
One of the standout achievements came in swimming, where a group of students attended the London Schools Swimming Association individual heat qualifiers. The event brings together some of the strongest school swimmers from across London, all competing for places in the finals. Last year, CJS had three pupils qualify for the finals, making this year’s achievement even more remarkable, as an incredible 20 students qualified. This is a fantastic reflection of the hard work of the swimmers and the excellent swimming provision at City.
In football, our Year 3 and Year 4 girls’ teams competed in the Bloomsbury Tournament Finals. The B team qualified for the Cup competition, meaning they faced a number of other schools’ A teams, and they performed brilliantly to reach the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, our A team dominated throughout the competition, winning every match convincingly without conceding a single goal. The girls finished the tournament in style, winning the final 5–0 to become overall champions.
This week also saw a number of cricket fixtures against Alleyn’s Regent’s Park. Pupils demonstrated excellent bowling, batting and teamwork throughout the matches. Across Year 4 and Year 5, we played a total of 16 games, winning an impressive 13 out of 16, which was a fantastic achievement and showed the continued progress being made in cricket across the school. We look forward to sports day after half term!
