Eco Week

A pupil report written by Eco Council members, Astrid and Maria
This week we celebrated Eco Week to raise awareness of the damage we are causing to the world, and what we can each do to try and help make things better. We took part in many different eco-based activities during the week, including the whole school wearing green on Tuesday, and everyone being asked to write an eco-pledge on what we can do to protect the environment.
Miss Szemerenyi and Miss Wright both gave fantastic assemblies on different topics relating to eco-week such as the Earthshot prize and the importance of trees and plants.
To remind us of our commitment to the environment, we have (carefully) decorated our new monstera plant with the eco-pledges we made. Monsteras are large- leafed philodendron plants, and research by NASA has shown them to be one of the most effective for reducing air pollution!

Hannah Gold (author) has written three books, The Lost Whale, The Last Bear and Finding Bear (which came out yesterday!). On Wednesday, she came to visit us! Everyone was very excited, we couldn’t wait to meet her and get our books signed! It started off with Hannah telling us about the book, where it was set, who were the characters and a run through of the plot. Aahaan said: "I loved it when I was at the top of the London Eye and I could see the hospital where I was born." Claudia added: "When we were at the top of the London Eye it was a little bit scary but really fun!"
