From CJS to France: Year 6 Residential
All news
What a week for Year 6! The annual French residential to Maison Claire Fontaine was packed with adventure, new experiences and plenty of opportunities to practise French. From exploring local markets and villages to circus skills, cooking and mosaic making, it was a week full of learning, laughter and teamwork.
Year 6 have shared some of their favourite moments from the trip:
“The 12-hour coach journey was tiring but exciting! We loved watching films together, getting to know our bus driver and spending time with our friends. By the end of the week, it was one of our favourite parts of the trip!”
“Maison Claire Fontaine was surrounded by beautiful woodland and fields, with lots of space for football, table tennis, badminton and rugby every day.”
“We learnt so much French, not just in lessons but in everyday life too. We even learnt how to clear the table in French and haggle for cheese at the market!”
“The dorms were cosy and comfortable, and we had lots of fun playing games and spending time together.”
“The food was brilliant! We enjoyed croissants and pain au chocolat for breakfast and even tried snails for the first time.”
“Mosaic making was one of the best activities. We designed our own patterns and created colourful souvenirs to take home.”
“Shopping at the local market was so much fun. We bought fresh food for lunch and practised ordering and speaking in French.”
“The visit to Avallon was fascinating. We loved exploring the town, learning about its history and ordering drinks in French at a local café.”
“Circus skills were a real highlight! We tried trapeze, silk climbing, juggling and balancing, and achieved much more than we thought we could.”
“The hike through the French countryside was beautiful, and we learnt lots about Burgundy along the way.”
“Cooking together was great fun. We baked apple cakes in teams and enjoyed eating them for dessert that evening.”
“The disco on the final night was amazing! We sang, danced and celebrated a fantastic week together.”
Some pupils were also selected as Maison Claire Fontaine ambassadors, receiving certificates, medals and a special place in the Ambassador Book to recognise their positive contributions throughout the week.
A huge thank you goes to all of the staff who accompanied the trip for making it such a memorable experience. Their enthusiasm, encouragement and support helped make this year's Year 6 residential one to remember.
