On Wednesday afternoon, author Hannah Gold came to talk to Year 5 and 6 about her book series.
On Wednesday, she came to visit us! Everyone was very excited, we couldn’t wait to meet her and get our books signed! It started off with Hannah telling us about the book, where it was set, who were the characters and a run through of the plot. Fortunately, she didn’t tell us everything, like will they solve the problems or not because we can find out when we read it!
After that, Hannah picked two volunteers (one to be April, one to be Bear (both main character’s from The Last Bear)) to demonstrate a loud roar (which all of us joined in)! Then Hannah started talking more about Finding Bear. She told us that Bear sent April a loud roar (which a regular human would not hear) but April has bear ears so only she could hear it. The roar was a roar for help, help for Bear’s baby cub who was in danger. Of course, April helped, but only in the book you can find out more. By the time we finished we were all itching with questions so it was: QUESTION TIME!
At the very end, when Hannah had answered all of our questions, we got to the signing part! There was a huge queue of children waiting patiently to get their books signed by Hannah, who has won the children’s book award and the Blue Peter book award! There was a buzz of excitement in the room as everyone chatted away about how they really enjoyed the afternoon and couldn’t wait for the next author to visit CJS!

Year 3 London Eye trip
Year 3 have been exploring the city from the water and sky, as part of their humanities topic on London.
Year 3 have been exploring the city from the water and sky, as part of their humanities topic on London.
The children enjoyed a river cruise before hopping on board the London Eye. They enjoyed learning more about the many landmarks in the city. Aahaan said: "I loved it when I was at the top of the London Eye and I could see the hospital where I was born." Claudia added: "When we were at the top of the London Eye it was a little bit scary but really fun!"
