Pupils and staff celebrate NSPCC number day

Number day 3

CJS was alive with Maths magic in celebration of NSPCC number day!

We were delighted to see our children "dressed up for digits" in their most creative numerical attire. Their enthusiasm and effort paid off as we raised an impressive £247.76 for the NSPCC. Congratulations to Mr Westland and Ms Ahmed who won the coveted prize for "best dressed" members of staff!

The day was a celebration of all things mathematical, with activities that challenged and delighted pupils of all ages. Despite being on their residential, Year 4 did not miss out on the fun and continued the Number Day celebrations this week.

We also used Number Day to launch the Young Mathematician Story Author Award, an international competition that we are inviting pupils to join. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity and mathematical prowess. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents for their generous contributions and continuous support for all things maths related at home. Your encouragement helps our students excel and develop a lifelong love for mathematics.

"It was really fun to see everyone in their different outfits. Some were ingenious, such as 'Sir Cumference', 'pi[e]' and even someone's 11th birthday outfit!"

"We loved having fun drawing impossible shapes and optical illusions."

“We did special maths lessons and learned about the YMSA – I’ve planned to write about a ninja who throws shapes.”

"I really liked seeing the teachers' costumes. Mr Westland's was my favourite!"
