CJS participate in a Gray’s Inn production of ‘The Pied Piper’

After weeks of rehearsals, we were excited watch our children perform The Pied Piper children's opera in Gray's Inn Hall.
This operatic production of ‘The Pied Piper’ was written by Gray's Inn's organist and choirmaster, Christopher Bowers- Broadbent, who kindly invited CJS pupils to participate. The production has formed a kind of musical ‘bridge’ between the CJS school community and our surrounding Gray’s Inn residents.
Our Year 4 pupils, the cantata choir and other pupils from CIty of London School participated in the performance, accompanied by The Bar Musical Society Orchestra. The role of the Pied Piper was played by conductor and tenor Ben Vonberg-Clark. It was a lively and engaging performance, with intricate costumes and confident, talented performers: overall, a real pleasure to watch. Thank you to all the members of CJS and parents who participated and supported. What a joy!

Gray’s Inn Singers have been crowned UK champions at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition as well as winning at The Watford Festival 2026
The Gray’s Inn Singers from City Junior School have also won the Grand Prize for Musical Excellence at the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition. The choir performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Tuesday 3 March, having been selected as one of 16 outstanding finalists in the Junior Choir category. Their programme featured a captivating performance of Sakura, a traditional Japanese song arranged by Michael Neaum, followed by Larysa Kuzmenko’s dramatic and evocative Winds, which portrays the gathering intensity of a storm. This achievement is a testament to the children’s hard work, dedication, and passion for singing, and we are incredibly proud of them.…
