Singing Success in Llangollen
All news
Gray’s Inn Singers enjoyed a wonderful trip to Wales this summer as they took part in the prestigious Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 2026.
The trip began with a rehearsal at Moreton Hall before the choir set off to explore the beautiful Welsh countryside. A highlight of the first day was a heritage train journey on the Llangollen Railway from Llangollen to Corwen. While waiting for the return train, the pupils treated fellow passengers on the platform to an impromptu performance of Scarborough Fair, providing a lovely glimpse of the performances to come.
The following day, the singers took to the stage in the Junior Children’s Choir category, performing to an enthusiastic audience and an international panel of judges. The choir gave an outstanding performance and were delighted to be awarded Second Prize.
Gray’s Inn Singers then returned to the stage to compete in the Children’s Folk Song Choirs category, where they once again impressed the judges with their performance. We are thrilled to share that they were awarded another Second Prize!
The pupils also had the opportunity to listen to choirs from around the world and experience the unique atmosphere of one of the UK’s most celebrated musical festivals. Their time in Wales was filled with music, friendship and plenty of memorable experiences, making this a truly unforgettable trip.
The choir’s achievements are a wonderful reflection of their hard work, commitment and musical talent. Congratulations to all our singers on a fantastic trip to Llangollen!
