Sports day success!

On Friday 6 June, CJS headed to Grove Park for a day of sporting activities and friendly inter-house competition.
The children worked their way around a carousel of six activities, scoring points for their respective houses; Gray's Inn, Barbican, Carmelite or St. Paul's. Events included the 50m and 600m runs, Vortex (javelin), Shotput, Long Jump and Standing Triple Jump.
Everyone enjoyed a rest station break, with more light-hearted activities including a sack race and tug of war. Not forgetting, of course, an ice cream van orgaised by our PFA.
The temperamental British weather settled on a cool, slightly overcaset 19 degree - perfect for a day of sporting events!
It was a pleasure to have so many parents cheering along the children. We were very proud of the way CJS pupils engaged in friendly, supportive sportspersonship, celebrating our values of community and joy. Thank you to the PE staff for hosting and organising our biggest (and best!) sports day yet. We're already looking forward to next year's event.

Gray’s Inn Singers have been crowned UK champions at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition as well as winning at The Watford Festival 2026
The Gray’s Inn Singers from City Junior School have also won the Grand Prize for Musical Excellence at the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition. The choir performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Tuesday 3 March, having been selected as one of 16 outstanding finalists in the Junior Choir category. Their programme featured a captivating performance of Sakura, a traditional Japanese song arranged by Michael Neaum, followed by Larysa Kuzmenko’s dramatic and evocative Winds, which portrays the gathering intensity of a storm. This achievement is a testament to the children’s hard work, dedication, and passion for singing, and we are incredibly proud of them.…
