Year 3 Stone Age trip to The Hive in the Forest

Yesterday, all of Year 3 went to The Hive, an outdoor education centre based in Epping Forest.

"I enjoyed the shelter building most because you had to be creative. It was a lot of fun and my group's shelter included: a secret lever that moved it up and down and a bit of clay that stuck the joints of the entrance together! I also learnt how to make a fire with fantastic flint and smooth steel." - Noah
"At the Hive, we made a shelter with dead, natural materials. We also found a water source and Oyster mushrooms. I enjoyed constructing the shelter most. I discovered what a reasonable boundary is like. I needed perseverance when making fire. It was the best long trip ever, with the freshest air!" - Rory
"I enjoyed when we creatively built an amazing shelter in the woods. I learned how to build a bright and burning hot fire with flint and steel. In order to find the river source, we had to walk along muddy paths, where we saw many interesting plants and different types of fungi, including Oyster and Blush mushrooms. It was the best time I've ever had!" Orla

Gray’s Inn Singers have been crowned UK champions at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition as well as winning at The Watford Festival 2026
The Gray’s Inn Singers from City Junior School have also won the Grand Prize for Musical Excellence at the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition. The choir performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Tuesday 3 March, having been selected as one of 16 outstanding finalists in the Junior Choir category. Their programme featured a captivating performance of Sakura, a traditional Japanese song arranged by Michael Neaum, followed by Larysa Kuzmenko’s dramatic and evocative Winds, which portrays the gathering intensity of a storm. This achievement is a testament to the children’s hard work, dedication, and passion for singing, and we are incredibly proud of them.…
