Year 5 & 6 house football and cross country

Year 5 & 6 braved the cold air to compete in House Football and House Cross Country this week.
It was a busy day for Year 5, participating in both football and cross country tournaments, where points accrued would contribute to their House total, all in the name of winning the end of year House Prize.
Pupils braved the cold air and played admirably, with outstanding effort on all fronts. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate sportsmanship and teamwork.
In one pupil's words:
"On Monday, we had House Football and Cross Country. First, we did cross country where we had to run a lap, then go round a post onto the football pitches, running around them and then doing another lap of Grove Park. In total it was 1 mile. In football, each house was split into 3 teams (A, B and C) and all the A's played against each other, all the B's played together and all the C's. The groups were mixed across the year groups and we played every other house. I thought the day was really fun and exciting! I enjoyed working as a house."

Gray’s Inn Singers have been crowned UK champions at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition as well as winning at The Watford Festival 2026
The Gray’s Inn Singers from City Junior School have also won the Grand Prize for Musical Excellence at the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition. The choir performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Tuesday 3 March, having been selected as one of 16 outstanding finalists in the Junior Choir category. Their programme featured a captivating performance of Sakura, a traditional Japanese song arranged by Michael Neaum, followed by Larysa Kuzmenko’s dramatic and evocative Winds, which portrays the gathering intensity of a storm. This achievement is a testament to the children’s hard work, dedication, and passion for singing, and we are incredibly proud of them.…
