Year 5’s Day of Discovery at the Science Museum
All news
Last week, Year 5 enjoyed an exciting trip to the Science Museum, where the children had a wonderful time exploring, experimenting and discovering a wide range of scientific ideas.
Throughout the day, the children visited a variety of galleries, including the interactive Wonderlab, the Space Gallery and the Technicians Gallery. They showed great enthusiasm as they explored the hands-on exhibits, asking thoughtful questions and engaging brilliantly with the activities.
A highlight of the visit was the ‘Feel the Force’ workshop, where the children learned more about pushes, pulls and gravity through exciting demonstrations. They were fully engaged throughout and impressed us with their curiosity and excellent behaviour.
The Wonderlab proved particularly popular, with the children enjoying its interactive experiments and activities. The friction slides were a firm favourite, giving pupils the chance to explore how different materials affect speed.
The children certainly made the most of the experience:
“The Science Museum was so fun because we did lots of activities, such as going down slides, building and much more!”
“I really enjoyed the Science Museum, especially the Wonderlab because it had loads of fun things, including the friction slide!”
“The Science Museum was a great experience. Did you know that there is a 3 billion year old piece of the moon there?!”
“My favourite part of the Science Museum was the friction slides in the Wonderlab because they go really fast and I enjoyed myself a lot. The friction slides were made out of wood, grass and plastic. Wood was the fastest, then plastic and the slowest was grass!”
Overall, it was a fantastic day and a valuable opportunity to bring our science learning to life. We are very proud of how the children represented the school and would like to thank all the parent volunteers who supported the trip.
