Year 6 boys set off to the Ultimate Adventure Centre in Devon. 

Our OG boys set off on a week of adventurous outdoor pursuits as their residential trip this Summer term. Things kicked off with the ‘Ultimate Wipeout’ water-based assault course which featured jumping between several giant inflatable balls in a swimming pool (see gallery). Evenings involved new challenges for the boys, including making their own beds, followed by a group quiz, before settling into their eco-lodges for the night.  

The following day started with a cooked breakfast feast, before it was time to head outdoors and take on an action-packed morning of paddle- boarding, kayaking and raft building, which all proved to be a great success, although rather exhausting!

After a good night’s sleep, the next day held in store the slightly daunting task of building a buggy out of only planks of wood, plastic barrels, and lengths of rope. The boys managed to bravely take on this challenge, putting newfound knot-making skills learnt at the previous day's raft-building session to good use. Pupils were then to use the buggy to complete one lap of a small course, provided the vehicle in question remained in one piece...  

The week of adventure also featured games of ‘frisbee golf’, surfing lessons, high ropes and zip-lining. What a week! The final day concluded with an evening around the campfire, eating toasted marshmallows, singing songs and reminiscing about the week just past. A magical conclusion to a week of adventure and new experiences.

“It was great! My favourite part was jumping on the two big balls and falling on the water.”  

“It was really fun. The best bits were the water obstacles. I learned how to do the monkey bars and the most challenging part was putting on the wetsuit!” 

I haven’t tried paddleboarding before and I loved the experience because we got to play games and jump into the lake.”  

“It was fun to board each other’s paddle boards. I will remember Axel trying to help me but accidentally pushing me off! ”
