Years 3&4 Winter Concert

On Wednesday 10 December, Year 3 and 4 showcased their hard work, to wow parents at their Winter Concert. Full of joy and festive sparkle, the children performed wonderfully, with enormous confidence they have gained from all the dedicated effort they've made this term.
Junior Strings got us straight into the festive spirit, with their lively performances of Jingle Bells and Kingston Calypso. Percussion Ensemble were hot on their heels with their beautiful renditions of Deck the Hall and Passacaglia. Guitar ensemble treated us to a peaceful Coventry Carol and Junior Band finished their set with a rousing version of Good King Wenceslas.
Our choirs were also outstanding. Junior Voices, our open choir, wowed us with their performances of Catch a Falling Star and The Holiday Tango - accompanied by very expert tango moves! CJS Singers, our auditioned choir, gave stunning performances of Do You Hear What I Hear? and The Dream Keeper, which showcased their part singing skills.
The CJS 'Music for All' programme ensures the curriculum supports the musical development of every child at CJS. The wonderful musical progress all the children have been making was evident in the Year 3 song Santa Makes the Rounds and the Year 4 song Shoulda Been a North Pole Elf. Year 3 donned cute Santa hats as they waited for Santa - who delighted the children by making a surprise appearance at the concert! Year 4 sported very cute elf hats to bring to life their impersonations of an ambitious elf looking for a career change. Year 3 and 4 combined their talents for a joyous finale, singing Jingle Bell Rock, before they lead the communal singing, where our parents got to join in!

Congratulations to all the wonderful children - it was a joy to see all their hard work deliver such wonderful performances!

Gray’s Inn Singers have been crowned UK champions at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition as well as winning at The Watford Festival 2026
The Gray’s Inn Singers from City Junior School have also won the Grand Prize for Musical Excellence at the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition. The choir performed at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Tuesday 3 March, having been selected as one of 16 outstanding finalists in the Junior Choir category. Their programme featured a captivating performance of Sakura, a traditional Japanese song arranged by Michael Neaum, followed by Larysa Kuzmenko’s dramatic and evocative Winds, which portrays the gathering intensity of a storm. This achievement is a testament to the children’s hard work, dedication, and passion for singing, and we are incredibly proud of them.…
